The programme

Combining sport and education to achieve the 5 As.

Sporteducate is a pioneering programme designed by Sported in partnership with Deutsche Bank to help disadvantaged young people gain specific educational outcomes through sport.

The programme has been developed to provide 11-18 year olds, who are at a high risk of exclusion and/or becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), with the extra-curricular support, skills and focus to stay in school and go on to further education, training and employment.

Both Sported and Deutsche Bank believe that sport has the power to inspire young people and nurture values such as ambition, trust and teamwork.

The programme combines playing sport with education as a way of reaching and engaging young people outside of traditional education routes. As part of the programme, 33 Sported Member clubs in London are benefiting from funding, training and management support over a three-year period to run education and employability activities alongside their core sports offering.

By building on the positive and supportive environment found in community sport clubs, we aim to improve the following areas of young people’s lives; we call them the 5 As:

  1. Attitudes to learning
  2. Attendance at school, college, training or work
  3. Academic achievement
  4. Aspirations for the future
  5. Aptitude and employment
