It’s Volunteers’ Week and we’re delighted to extend our congratulations to Neil Rutherford, who has been recognised by Volunteer Edinburgh for his five years’ service to Sported in Scotland. Neil has worked tirelessly with numerous community sports groups, using his knowledge and experience to make them more sustainable.
“The mentor role is a great one, which I thoroughly enjoy. To be honest, there are probably people who I’ve worked with in the supported organisations who deserve all the credit – they do a lot more than me.” Neil Rutherford, Sported volunteer
Brian Smillie from Blackburn United FC was delighted to endorse the mentoring work that Neil carried out for the club.
“Neil was a great asset to the club throughout the six month period of mentoring. His willingness to listen and to analyse our situation and then suggest and help implement solutions was undoubtedly a huge factor in us making the progress that we have. We were particularly impressed with his levels of commitment and his willingness to take the time to get to know the community in which we operate.”
