Connor Freel (He/Him)

Connor, a trans man and dedicated member of the UNISON Cymru LGBT+ Self Organised Group, has consistently used his lived experience to inform, educate and challenge inequality.

His voice has become a vital force in shaping understanding and action around trans rights and inclusion, both within UNISON and in wider society.

Professionally, Connor works within North Wales Police, where he plays a crucial role in embedding trans-inclusive practices and policies. His contributions ensure that policing in the region is shaped by lived experience and grounded in genuine efforts to improve the lives of LGBT+ individuals, particularly trans people.

Connor is also a passionate advocate for trans healthcare equality. He has made representations to government, bravely speaking out on critical issues such as the ban on hormone blockers for under-18s, highlighting the real-world impact of political decisions on the trans community and demanding change.

In his role within UNISON, Connor is a key facilitator of the Trans Ally Training programme in Wales. Through this work, he equips allies with the knowledge and tools they need to support trans colleagues and campaign for meaningful change. His work has been instrumental in strengthening the Trans Ally Network across Wales and creating safer, more inclusive environments for all.
