HEAD OF PEOPLE, CULTURE AND INCLUSION

Toyin joined Sported in June 2023, bringing over 25 years of insights from working effectively in the youth and community sector in both local government and as a consultant championing inclusion.

Starting out as a 17-year-old with Birmingham Young Volunteers, she has delivered projects at a local level elsewhere through the Connexions Service such as the U-Project that enabled young people to make successful transition into further education.

As an ILM 7 coach and mentor and board-level leader, she continues to ensure that leaders are sufficiently equipped and communities are best served across all sectors.

Toyin has been a non-executive director across a range of organisations in sport and has effectively steered inclusion interventions. Her contributions to Essex CFA Children’s Services agenda were distinguished in the County Football Association structure.

With Together Active, she steered the implementation of the Race Code ensuring its early adoption. Toyin’s inclusion work has also been recognised by the effective oversight of the Edgbaston for Everyone strategy while chairing Warwickshire County Cricket Club’s Inclusion Advisory Board. Additionally, she led the regional response to Inclusion and Children’s Services with West Midlands’ employers following the conclusion of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Throughout her career, sport has been both a joy and a consistency playing, coaching, and supporting sport for development.

Among the highlights has been working independently as a consultant to grow inclusive practice across organisations.

Part of the FA/UEFA legacy team for the Uefa Women’s Euro 2022 football championships in England, she subsequently played a key role in city integration, supporting stakeholders in the delivery of Birmingham 2022 to see the West Midlands come to life.
