Janice Knox
GRANTS CO-ORDINATOR
Janice has a background in performing arts, supporting children and young people to develop confidence and creativity through music and drama.
After working with a children’s charity, she developed a passion for volunteering and worked with a range of community organisations, supporting children and young people in arts centres, theatre groups and museums.
She then joined the world of grant making at the National Lottery Community Fund, supporting a range of charities and community groups to apply for funding. With almost 10 years’ experience assessing and managing grants, she loves working with people and organisations, helping them to see the strengths in their ideas and projects.
Having previously worked in a Public Health team for a Local Authority, she has seen the immediate health and wellbeing challenges faced by communities. Working as part of a Covid 19 support hub, Janice provided practical and emotional support to vulnerable people, connecting them to local networks such as befriending services, food banks and health services.
Janice appreciates the difference physical activity and sport can have on emotional and mental wellbeing and is excited to be able to support community organisations to access funding.
She loves nothing more than a long walk with her greyhound on a Northumberland beach.
