Jo joined Sported in October 2024 as our Head of Insight, leading and overseeing the research, evaluation, and impact work within the organisation.

Prior to joining Sported, Jo worked in higher education, leading academic departments in the areas of psychology and management, overseeing professional training programmes, monitoring and evaluating performance, and developing research and income generation profiles and activities.

After receiving her Doctorate in Psychology in 2011, Jo spent over a decade in research-focussed roles. She brings extensive experience of planning, executing, and evaluating complex and large-scale social research and evaluation projects.

She has high-level technical knowledge and skills in quantitative and qualitative methodologies and analysis, working with a variety of data types and evidence. She is passionate about mental health, inclusion, and equality, particularly in the context of the wellbeing and life opportunity outcomes of marginalised young people.

In her spare time, Jo enjoys hiking, bouldering, board games, and other geeky pursuits.
