Rob Danson

EAST OF ENGLAND REGIONAL MANAGER

Based in Chelmsford, Essex, Rob is passionate about advocating for the power and effect that sport has on the lives of young people.

Rob has worked in the youth and sports sector for over a decade now and previously delivered a flagship national deaf football project for the National Deaf Children’s Society and a Big Lottery funded project for a charity in Camden, North London. Both projects involved strong partnership collaboration, volunteer management, event organisation and governance – key experiences that enable Rob to support Sported members in the East of England.

Rob is particularly knowledgeable and passionate about disability sports. As someone who is deaf himself, Rob fully understands the powerful effect sport can play on giving young disabled people confidence, life skills and opportunities.

As East of England Regional Manager since 2013, Rob supports Sported members and mentors based in Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire. The most satisfying aspect of the role for Rob has been seeing the effect Sported’s support has had on member organisations and knowing that this will continue to make a huge difference to the lives of young people across the region.

Rob loves playing and watching most sports, but football and cricket are his two biggest passions. His proudest moment is representing Fulham Deaf FC and winning the England Deaf Cup against arch rivals Arsenal!
