Cash4Clubs

3 LOGOS

Since 2008, Flutter UKI has donated over £6.5million to community sports clubs through the Cash4Clubs programme, helping thousands of people across the UK and Ireland by ensuring they have access to local sports and supporting the sustainability of clubs.

Sported is teaming up with Flutter UKI to deliver another round of the Cash4Clubs programme in 2025.

Small grants of £2000 (€2000 in Ireland) are available this autumn to support clubs and organisations that help keep adults engaged in sport, particularly in areas of need.

Flutter UKI has generously boosted the total grant pot to £500,000 this year – enabling us to reach even more groups.

What is Cash4Clubs?

Cash4Clubs is a small grants scheme for community sports clubs and organisations giving them a chance to apply for grants to improve facilities, purchase new equipment, gain coaching qualifications, or invest in the sustainability of their club.

The 2025 programme is focused on supporting adult participation in sport. Funding is available to groups that support over 18s only. The funding is unrestricted, meaning organisations are able to decide how best to use the grant to support their activities.

However, Cash4Clubs aims to get vital funds to clubs that need it most and as such, prioritises groups working in areas of high deprivation and engaging adults from specific under-represented groups. These groups include women, people from racially-diverse communities, people with disabilities and people from the LGBTQ+ community.

Who can apply?

Cash4Clubs is funded by Flutter UK & Ireland, part of Flutter Entertainment, the global sports betting, gaming and entertainment provider. For this reason, groups must only support adult members (18+) to be eligible for funding. You cannot apply if your organisation or club has junior members or runs any junior activities.

We welcome applications from not-for-profit organisations, including charities, community groups and traditional sports clubs and teams. To be eligible for funding, organisations applying must be clubs with a structured governance and constitution, registered charities, or companies without share capital.

Applicants must demonstrate that they are using sport for social purpose. Examples include: operating in communities facing disadvantage, engaging adults from under-represented groups and tackling issues such as crime and anti-social behaviour.

To check you are eligible and make sure you have all the information you need to apply, please read the Frequently Asked Questions below.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much funding can our organisation apply for?

You can apply for £2,000 (€2000 in Ireland), to support your activities using sport for social purpose. You can only apply for one grant per club. We cannot give out awards to different teams within a club so please consider where the funds are most needed.

What is the deadline to apply?

The fund is open from Monday 8 September until Monday 8 December 2025.

What does our application need to include?

Cash4Clubs aims to get vital funds to clubs that need it most. So we’ll prioritise applications from groups working in areas of high deprivation and engaging adults from specific under-represented groups. That means those who:

  • Are supporting adults living in an area of high deprivation. (Using Government Indices of Multiple Deprivation and the Pobal HP Deprivation Index).
  • Increase access to sport for one or more under-represented groups, including women, people from racially diverse communities, people with disabilities and people from the LGBTQ+ community.
  • Encourage adults who would not usually engage in sport to take part. Examples include activities that support physical and mental wellbeing or tackle issues such as loneliness and rural isolation.
  • Address broader social issues for the local community, for example tackling crime and anti-social behaviour or supporting community cohesion.

What can the funding be used for?

The funding is unrestricted – we want you to tell us what you need it for!

It can be used for anything that will support your organisation to continue and/or grow your sports activities for adults. Typical examples of costs might include a contribution towards:

  • Venue hire
  • Utilities such as heating or lighting
  • Equipment
  • Coaching costs
  • Volunteer expenses
  • Kit
  • Marketing and communications
  • Training and qualifications
  • Insurances and affiliations

What won’t you fund?

  • We cannot fund organisations who work with young people aged under 18.
  • We cannot support projects which are aimed at or support young people aged under 18.
  • We are unable to fund trips abroad.
  • Any costs associated with elite sport or talent development.
  • We cannot fund individuals.

What else do we need to submit along with our application?

We’re asking for some additional information, so we can carry out due diligence checks to ensure we are funding safe and trusted organisations.

You will need to submit:

  1. A governing document g. Constitution or Articles of Association. We will also accept your Charity or Company Number. This is so we can ensure you are a charity or not-for-profit organisation benefiting the local community. Unfortunately, we are unable to fund Sole Traders or Companies limited by shares.
  2. A bank statement in the name of your organisation and dated within the last 3 months. The statement should clearly show the sort code and account number, so we can make payment if you are successful. We do not need to see any transactions or balance. We are unable to pay into personal bank accounts, so the account name must match that name of the organisation applying.

If you are working with vulnerable adults, we will also require you to submit a copy of an up-to-date safeguarding policy.

All applicants will need to self-declare that you have a health and safety policy and relevant insurance to cover your activities.

When does the funding need to be spent?

The funding should be spent within a six-month period, to allow us to assess and report on the impact of the programme.

What reporting will we be required to complete?

You will be required to complete a short feedback form to help us understand how the funding has supported your organisation. You may also be selected for a grant audit so please keep copies of invoices paid and receipts for any items connected to the grant.

Our organisation has already received a grant through Sported from Cash4Clubs?

Organisations who received a Cash4Clubs grant in 2023 and 2024 are eligible to re-apply. However, if we are oversubscribed we will prioritise new groups that have not received funding before.

We are based in the Republic of Ireland, can we apply?

Yes. Sported is a UK charity but this grant programme is funded through Flutter UK & Ireland – so groups from the Republic of Ireland are eligible to apply.

What support can you offer if I have additional needs, or I am facing barriers in applying?

We will accommodate different accessibility needs to give organisations the best chance of communicating their idea and plans with us. We can arrange a conversation with a member of our team to provide clarity on the questions or processes or provide information and the application form in accessible formats. We will consider any requests for accessibility that make it easier to apply.

Please get in touch at grants@sported.org.uk

When will we hear if our application has been successful?

A member of the Sported team will be in touch by the end of January 2026 to let you know if your application has been successful – or to request further information.
