Include Project - Wales

People with a disability in the UK exercise significantly less than those without a disability: 21% of the UK population is registered as disabled (ONS, 2019), yet only 42% of disabled people are actively participating in sport and physical activity, making them more than two times less likely to participate than the non-disabled population.

Sported’s aim for its Include project is to see more young people with disabilities participating in sports and as a result, have increased self-confidence, and feel less restricted in their aspirations.

The Include Project in Wales is delivered in partnership with Disability Sports Wales and funded by St James’ Place Charitable Foundation.

We’re working with group leaders of grassroots sports groups in Wales to build their capacity upskilling their group leaders and volunteers in relation to disability inclusion activities, and providing leadership development opportunities for young people passionate about disability inclusion in their sports groups.
