Jo Deagle

ENGLAND NATIONAL MANAGER (SOUTH)

With 15 years’ experience of volunteering and working in the sports sector, Jo Deagle joined Sported in August 2023 as Strategic Lead – London before becoming National Manager for southern England.

Keen to understand how to achieve meaningful and sustainable impact, Jo has volunteered for a range of social justice charities that use sport as a mechanism for change, both in the UK and abroad. Most recently, Jo worked for the Centre for Access to Football in Europe (CAFE), where she led the organisation as Managing Director.

Within this role, she designed the first cross-country project to integrate disabled people’s voices into National Football Association and league strategies in Belgium, France and Germany, was an observer on the UEFA Fair Play and Social Responsibility Committee, and co-authored FIFA’s accessibility requirements for its World Cups and events.

In 2022, she co-founded the Sport and Social Change Alliance and the Disability in Football Alliance.

Jo is a strong believer in Sported’s ambition to help community groups survive in order for young people to thrive. She is a Trustee of City Kids Surfing, which seeks to open up access to the transformative power of the ocean to young people in London who would otherwise not have the chance.

She also sits on Surfing England’s Inclusive Line Up Committee.

Jo has completed an Executive Master in Global Sports Governance and was awarded a certificate in Circular Economy and Sustainability Strategies. In both of these courses she sought to highlight the need for embedding diversity and inclusion across an organisation to increase innovation, adaptability and support sustainable futures.
