Working together to remove barriers

The Nissan Possibilities Project brings together Nissan’s investment, people and volunteering power with Sported’s expertise in supporting grassroots sport. Together, the partners help local sports clubs and community organisations remove barriers to participation and build inclusive opportunities that last. Grant funding is combined with tailored training, consultation and organisational development, so groups gain both the resources to act now and the capability to grow their impact over time.

Partnership in action

  • £50,000 in grants invested directly in projects helping young disabled people become more active.
  • More than 10,000 hours of training, consultation and support helping grassroots organisations launch or strengthen inclusive provision.
  • A positive impact on 1,000 young disabled people, opening up greater access to sport, physical activity and community participation.

Stronger community groups, lasting local benefit

For community groups, the project offers much more than a grant. Each organisation receives practical, tailored support to strengthen its services, improve inclusive practice and develop the confidence to welcome more young disabled people. This can help groups build skills, increase capacity and create activities that remain sustainable beyond the funding period. Nissan employees contribute volunteering time and expertise, while Sported provides specialist guidance—giving participating organisations access to a partnership of funding, knowledge and people.

Growing the impact

Following its success in North East England, the Nissan Possibilities Project has expanded into Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. By working through trusted local organisations, the partnership is helping more community groups deliver inclusive activities and enabling more young disabled people to experience the physical, social and wellbeing benefits of sport close to home.

Together, Sported, Nissan and local community organisations are building stronger groups, widening access to sport and creating lasting change in the communities they serve.
