Girls Unite
Over a period of three years, we ran the Girls Unite programme in partnership with the London Marathon Charitable Trust & Women in Sport – aiming to get more girls from socially deprived areas of the UK participating in sport and physical activity
It is widely recognised that women and girls are under-represented in sport. The Girls Unite project aimed to get more girls participating, by giving community groups the knowledge, understanding and support to better engage and tailor their activities, on and off the field.
We delivered expert training to increase the understanding of both Sported groups and volunteers on how to deliver effective services to engage and retain women and girls.
Following the training, groups were able to apply for a £2000 grant to – to increase and sustain participation by reducing barriers to participation that women and girls face in taking part.
Alongside this we supported a group of young female leaders, gathering insight and upskilling them to ensure that women and girls feel better able to support each other to participate.
