Samia Shinwari

Samia joined the third sector through volunteering with several charities, supporting with media campaigns, fundraising and youth work. She graduated from the School of Oriental and African Studies in BA English in 2017 and took up the role of No7 Advisor at Boots, where she trained to lead on face-to-face consultations and give advice to those affected by cancer to help them cope with visible side effects of treatment. Although Sports for Development is a new area to Samia, she appreciates first-hand the importance of sport in empowering and transforming lives.

Samia joined Sported in September 2019 as Volunteer Services Coordinator, ensuring effective delivery of our light touch service to members and volunteers. She has built excellent working relationships with our volunteers and uses the knowledge gleaned from her conversations to improve our services, support and resources. She is passionate about creating a family-like and respectful environment and hopes to do just that at Sported. In her spare time, Samia enjoys writing short, creative fictional pieces and embroidery work. She also enjoys going to the gym (more of weight training, less of cardio) and taking regular walks with friends and family.
