If you are looking for an exciting volunteering role that utilises your professional skills, empowers community groups and helps to transform young lives, we may have the opportunity for you.

This is your chance to apply your professional skills and experience to help amazing local group leaders, who are often short of both time and resources, to help them make tangible change in their communities.

The main role is to work directly with groups in our network and help them build the skills that they need to make their organisation sustainable. Find out more about the groups we work with here 

What's involved

Long term placements

On long term mentor placements - these normally last 3-6 months

Short term light touch placements

On short term Light Touch placements – these are 3-6 interactions

One off support

Running one-off webinars/workshops or phone clinics. Creating or supporting the Sported team to create online resources for the network

What skills do I need?

We ask that you have at least 3 years of professional experiences in at least one of the following areas:

Fundraising and writing funding applications Business planning
Governance
Marketing/PR
Strategic planning
Finance
Evaluation and impact

Any skills on top of these are an added bonus and we’d love to hear about them and how they can be utilised to support our network and the Sported team.

How will Sported
support me?

  • Before you start volunteering with Sported you will be given a full induction by Sported staff and you will be given access to our online platform with a wide range of resources available
  • We take time to understand our volunteers’ skills, availability and preferences in order match them to the right opportunity.
  • You will have access to support from the Sported team during office hours
  • We will reimburse you for any travel costs incurred as part of your volunteer role.

Please note that placements are demand dependant so there may be periods of time when we have no placements available.

How do I

1. Please complete the volunteer application form. You can part-complete your application, save it and come back to it later – or complete it all at once.


2. our application will be reviewed by the Sported Team.


3. We will then be in touch to arrange an informal interview


4. If at this stage both parties wish to proceed, we will request your references.


5. You will be invited to attend an induction training session, normally lasting 1-2 hours this service and support is also offered remotely.
