Statement from Sported on Recent Race Riots

By Sported |  19 August 2024

At Sported, we are appalled and deeply saddened by the recent race riots and the surge in racism and Islamophobia that has affected communities across the country. As an organisation committed to equity, inclusion and integrity, we stand unequivocally against all forms of hate, racism, and discrimination.

We acknowledge the profound fear and anxiety that these events have instilled in many, particularly within marginalised communities. Although the riots may no longer be in full force, we understand that the fear and trauma persist long after the headlines have faded. At Sported, we believe in the power of sport to unite people, break down barriers, and create safe spaces where everyone, regardless of race or religion, can come together and thrive.

Our commitment to driving change remains steadfast. We are actively exploring additional ways to support marginalised communities, ensuring that they have the resources and opportunities to overcome hate and build stronger, more resilient bonds. Sported will continue to listen, learn, and take action to help communities heal and move forward together.

Together, we can rise above hate and work towards a future where everyone feels safe, respected, and included.
