After a successful career in industry, consultancy and further and higher education, Roger has committed most of his recent life to volunteering for a range of charities in sport, housing ,  leisure and health services during which he has undertaken the roles of Chairman, Treasurer, Company Secretary and Fundraiser.

He has been involved in youth and adult sport all his life as player, coach and consultant in football, rugby, cricket and athletics. He has been the Chairman of Stevenage Football Club Charitable Foundation which runs a wide range of sports programmes in local schools and the community.

He has been a Sported Volunteer mentor for eight years working with a range of sports clubs across the UK and has advised and supported them on a wide range of issues including governance, finance, fundraising, and facility development. He is committed to using the power of sport to help young people, adults and communities fulfil their potential.
