Free Counselling set to allow young people to Stop, Breathe, Think

By Sported |  10 October 2023

Sported has announced a new partnership with national youth mental health charity, Stop.Breathe.Think.

Through this pilot partnership, 16 members of Sported groups, aged 8-21, will receive free, bespoke 1:1 counselling, with no wait times.

When?

From 10 October, Stop.Breathe.Think will make 16 pilot places available for young people to access counselling.

Initially available in the London area ahead of a planned national roll out, it is being targeted at group leaders supporting, coaching or working with young people.

“Waiting lists for free counselling with the NHS or CAMHS are reaching up to three years in certain parts of the UK,” said Penny Rabone, Sported’s Wellbeing Lead.

“We hope this partnership will start a movement towards providing free and fast counselling for any young person in need of someone to talk to.”

Stop, Breathe, Think

How?

All counselling sessions with Stop.Breathe.Think are online, usually via Zoom but also available over the phone.

Each will provide young people with accessibility and privacy. However, if the young person has difficulty accessing a phone or computer, we’re happy to help facilitate access.
